Objective 1: To assess the landscape of sustainable tourism and CBT in Jordan, identifying key stakeholders and opportunities for CBI’s engagement based on sector insights, best practices, and the identification of new practitioners. Develop an action plan and intervention strategies, ensuring CBI’s contribution aligns with project objectives while avoiding duplication of existing initiatives.
Objective 2: To strengthen sustainability integration in Jordan’s tourism sector by supporting stakeholders in adopting sustainable practices, including forming a practitioners’ group, hosting an annual conference, supporting JTB sustainability efforts,building the capacity of 18 tour operators, and assisting ASEZA’s Green Growth Strategy and Green Destinations Certification efforts.
Key Activities
Established a sustainability practitioners’ group in collaboration with Jordan Trail Association, including drafting a charter and organizing a launch event, which Jordan Tourism Board later adopted
Facilitated JTB’s adoption of sustainability, by conducting multiple training sessions for staff and management with other project members.
Supported the delivery of industry workshops on different topics, including a session on Arab Market trends & Scandinavian markets and sustainable tourism trends.
Conducted sustainability-focused FAM trips, Ajloun, Jerash, and Salt, analyzing service providers and best practices and linking them to Travelife criteria.
Led revisions of JTA’s service provider standards to align with sustainability principles.
Led Travelife training sessions for tour operators, including an introductory session on Travelife Certification, a step-by-step guide to achieving Travelife Partner recognition and a practical training on hot to achieve Travelife certification
Facilitated multi-stakeholder coordination meetings with JTB, ASEZA, and other key industry players.
Ensured effective project reporting and coordination, updating team members on sustainability initiatives and progress.
